Comparing ATV tires

A friend put the Duro Power Grip tires on his RZR and everyone liked the looks etc. The problem is that as the old saying goes you get what you pay for because they didn't last near as long as the Bighorns.

I have heard that and also heard just the opposite. I know the BH I have now are done at 2500 miles. I also got a set of Sedona Rip Saw tires for the Yamaha and I really like the tread on those, but do not like the 4 ply rating. We'll see how the 2 do wear compared to the BH I have been running.

big horns are made by maxis. i have found all maxis atv tires, no matter what tread, to be better riding and lasting than any others i have used.

big horns are radial and come in both 4 ply and 6 ply. not a big deal, unless you ride a lot of rocky country or rocky stream beds. the 6 ply is well worth it then

more to the tire than the tread pattern. as stated above tread might look the same but big difference in tires.

personally would go ahead and spring for the big horns. you know what to expect from them.

I had the original Big Horn tires on my 05 Sportsman 500, the day I sold it those tires looks dang near like they came off the factory line, that was after some 6 years of hard riding too. Those were amazing tires.

Now I recall hearing that there were the Original Big Horns, then the Big Horn II - from what I recall the new big horns don't last as long as the original, because they used a softer rubber so they would actually wear out more. I' not totally sure, but if I were shopping I'd still be looking at the Big Horns.

Have you priced with Rocky Mountain ATV?

The $100 price difference is with RM ATV. I almost always shop there for both the best price and free shipping.

That model Duro is a RM ATV exclusive, from what I can determine.

Look at the Tusk Trilobites as well. A lot cheaper and the HD version has worked real well. The word on these tires is that when Maxxis dropped the bias ply tire, RMATV got the mold and are making them under their own brand name.

Those Tusk Trilobites look like the cousin of the Big Horn. RMATV has pretty good reviews on them too. Logevity was the key to the Big Horn for me, but these would be very tempting if I were shopping. Though I'd want to read a lot more reviews.

I had several ATV tires by Duro. All have done very well. I have a set on our Foreman that have out lasted anything else I have put on it.

I have a set of Big Horns on my RZR and a set of Duro Power Grips on the other RZR. The only difference is the Duro's are a little bit shorter tire. Both perform the same and are getting the same life. Buy the one you want, wont be disappointed with either.

I have a set of powergrips on my racher. They have about 2000 mi on them, very little wear and no flats! I just coundnt justify spending that much money for atv tires.
