Crossroads Rushmore

I have stumbled across a couple leftover Rushmores from a small local dealer that are discounted new one the lot. Both 2012's. I was wondering what the fit and finish is like after folk have them for a while. Are there warranty concerns? Not really looking to trade but the discount in price is around 25k and I think I can get more off the price as well so it make looking into it worth a bit of my time.
Anyone care to share likes, dislikes with me.
  • 1. You will be buying a 2 year old unit that will have two years depreciation. Be absolutely sure it is priced accordingly.
    2. Warranty questions you should address directly with the manufacturer.
    3. Tires may have suffered having sat in one position that long. Probably should be replaced.
    4. There should be little wear and tear on the unit from being on display. Perhaps the carpets could be dirty.
    5. The roof will need to be recaulked.
    6. The wheel bearings should be repacked.
  • Yes you need to go to the Crossroad forum and look under the Rushmore section. Many owners are having problems with their units. See if the units you are looking at come with the old 2 year warranty or the new 1 year. Seems like Crossroads has taken a slide on quality the last couple of years. Now their CEO has resigned.

That's not what I want to hear! I will check the warranty. It said 2-5 on the side of the units. I would definitely switch tires as I just bought new LT tires for mine this spring. Won't own another set of trailer tires on a camper... ever. Looks as if that's all there is to talk about in the Rushmore section is problems. Hmmm... I am handy and fix a lot of stuff myself mostly because I hate the thought of leaving it a a dealer forever for repairs.
  • You will take a hit on depreciation since it is a 2012, but you are still buying a new unit that should come with the original warranty. The warranty should start the day of purchase. HOWEVER, I would verify!

As usual you have the best info. One more question then, who is Tom Montegue then, top guy for the Cruiser line??? He was the guy everyone was complaining to on the "Warranty Boo Hiss" thread.
  • He has been working on the next coming of Carriage but this may shake things up. Guess we will wait and see.
