- rodknockerExplorerI also got my fill of exploding 16 inch tires. Bought 17.5" wheels (from High Spec Wheels) and Goodyear G114 tires. Expensive choice, but, I have great confidence in my tires now. Check out the specs on them. Trailer feels more stable, seems to pull easier. Very happy, happy, happy, jack!
- eaherrmannExplorerHi Guys!, Hope everyone is doing well.
Seems we're all facing similar issues these days. I washed the RV this summer and when I washed the roof I too had numerous areas that the white wore off and I could see a yellowish rubber material. According to the RV repair center it's a normal occurrence. (remember my roof replacement a few years back?) The materials came from Jayco so I speak with them some day.
The fridge issue of going from OFF to frozen fixed itself. All the Ammonia leaked out. I watched a video on how to replace the cooling unit on You Tube and it's a pretty straight forward repair. Planning on doing that over the winter.
Trip to Yellowstone got canceled, my truck with only 34K miles dropped a transmission and turbo while running errands. Good old Dodge left me holding the tab because it was 6 months outside of it's warranty, dealer did give us 10% off of our $6900 bill. At least it broke while we were near the homestead, it would've really sucked to be in Montana when it failed.
Spent a whole 4 days camping this year, bummer, life throws us curves sometimes but we will survive. Everyone is healthy and we have a home, food and a job and that's all will really need. Next year will be better!

Looks like you may have bought one built on a Monday...
Or a Friday....with his horse telling him time to get out of there and put on the feed bag..:W
Or - the guy fitting the gas lines had just "that much" left on the spool?.:h
~ - L_MMusicExplorerGas line in our '08 is protected by a secure piece of wood at the back of the drawers and is another 3" beyond that.
Our Norcold refrigerator leaked ammonia this past Monday. :-( Getting the replacement this Wednesday. :-) - REWahooExplorerJust removed my under-oven drawer and took a look. My gas line is behind, not above the drawer and well out of the way.

(Sorry - no good way to make this a "short story")
I have a 2006 Designer 31RKS.
All models of Designers for 2005 (and/or previous/later years) *may* share the same stove/oven.
Maybe *all* Jayco models?
There is a (one) drawer *underneath* the stove/oven combo.
At some point in time, the plastic holder -"drawer socket" for the glides- at the rear of the drawer glide broke, causing the drawer to drop off the tracks.
Upon removing the drawer, it appeared the "fine Amish craftsman", had installed a "backer board" at the rear to which the plastic drawer glide "holders" were attached - with only ONE screw!.:(
This allowed the board to move up or down on one side - which caused the holder to break.
Should add here - it's a real PITA to get down on the floor to work on this!
Seemed an easy repair - replace plastic holder, re-mount board correctly (more than a single screw) and done!
However.....The Safety Issue:
On installing same - I discovered the drawer would hit the (rigid) copper gas line to the stove/oven!
Absolutely no way to close the drawer without *seriously* impacting the gas line.
The line is 15" rearward from the cabinet face. The drawer is 18" deep.
Hmmmmm - apparently the aforementioned Amish Craftsmen - discovered their error, and "corrected" same by most likely (one or both):
1. Mounted the drawer glide hardware at a "down angle" (not level) - which would allow sufficient clearance for the top of the drawer -vs- the gas line.
2. Mounted the board with the single screw - so one side would "dip down" (below) the gas line when impact took place.
Regardless - the installer did a "Mickey Mouse" job - figuring nobody would ever know!
Exemplary Jayco Quality Control..:(
At the factory - the gas line should have been longer - leaving the necessary space for the drawer to clear the line.
The fix - easiest was to shorten the depth ("box") of the drawer so it wouldn't hit the line in question.
Important part:
Had the plastic "drawer socket" not broken, I would never have known about the "problem".
Repeated use (and this drawer is probably used infrequently - if at all) could have caused the gas line to - bend, break, or leak at the stove/oven connection with a potentially *BAD -to- VERY BAD* outcome!!.:(
Soooooo ....bottom line -
*If* you have a drawer under the stove/oven:
Remove drawer.
Get down on hands and knees and see if the gas line will clear the top of the drawer "box" with the drawer in the closed position.
It should be obvious if the drawer needs to "tilt" to do that,
or the drawer glide rails are not level front to back.
Of course, you may have had a different and/or more conscientious factory installer!

. - L_MMusicExplorerYes.
- CHV_FRKExplorerDid you tell them that it's only done it since their recall?
- L_MMusicExplorerI wrote to Jayco Customer Service to let them know I'm unhappy with the hum and to find out what can be done about it. Here's their response:
"Thank you for taking the time to contact Jayco. The only thing that you could do would be to purchase a new transfer switch and have it installed. Because the transfer switch is functioning as it was designed Jayco is not willing to cover any of the repair."
ARGH!!! - CHV_FRKExplorerAre you ever going to be close to the manufacturing facility? You could push the isse with them. If not, I think you may be best going to an actual trailer (semi) repair on the pin issue.
On our trailer I cleaned the roof this weekend and it appears that the "white has come off in about 40%. It's manilla colored so I'm not sure if that's the rubber or what? Any input? I thought it would be black underneath. Not sure where I go from here. At need to contact Jayco as I have done yearly maintenance.
I also had a blowout a few weeks ago. No warning and an internal belt failure. Good amount of damage that need to repair. Looking at posts it appears that there may have been a bad run around April of 07. FYI. Has anyone here looked at 17.5" wheels and tires? It's a little more but I get new wheels as well.
