- Rob_FlaExplorerThanks for the info and feedback. Our Eagle is our first Jayco product and we have been very impressed. Also our dealer that we bought our Eagle from has been first class and is part of the decision to stay with the Jayco product.
2007dura, I did see on the heat duct issue on the early 08's on the forun and will check it out next time we are at the dealer. The unit we are looking at does not have the Convection Microwave just the LP Oven.
For you guys that have the washer/dryer is it worth the money when fulltiming in your Designer? The Designer we are looking at does not currently have one installed and we are considering having one put in.
We are also looking at having a generator installed. Dealer has a LP generator that can be had for a deal. Not sure of the brand and size but will confirm next time we are at the dealer. Is a generator worth the cost and weight? - cruzExplorerLove our Designer ... but wish WE had ordered the Thermal Pane Windows !!! :S
Well folks ... sitting in Willits, CA right now ... and it's raining!
Bent over to turn on the fireplace and heat, and water started dripping on my head !! Won't tell you what I said :E
It was coming thru the A/C vent at a pretty good clip. Pulled the inside cover off and found 3 of the 4 long bolts that hold the A/C down to the inside bracket were so loose they weren't even making contact to the bracket !! A/C was basically sitting on the roof ... gasket not compressed at all !! again ... won't tell you what I said ...
Tightened everything back up and leak stopped. :B
Only issues have been minor and easily taken care of, although most could have been avoided with a little more attention to detail at the factory.
It's a very solid unit and trails absolutely wonderful behind the truck.
The MorRyde was also well worth the $$ !
Cruz - TravlingmanExplorer III have not had any major problems with mine, some minor like shower door leak, tape on ceiling joints falling down. If it is an early 2008, make sure the furnace ducts have been fixed to divert so much heat from bedroom. You will need the 2nd AC in bedroom, especially in warm weather. If it has the micro/convection oven, I would reccommend the max air fan in kitchen. Have had it in temps in the upper 90's to nights below 10 with wind chill under 0, and have stayed comfortable. We have the thermal panes too, and they are nice. We are very happy with ours, and you can't beat the floorplan. If we had to do it again, I would buy another. Good luck, and post some pics after you pick it up.
- RedGExplorerWe've had ours since September and haven't found any bad or ugly yet. Lots of good though.
Enjoy. - Rob_FlaExplorerOk all you Designer 35RLTS pro's, we are looking at a 2008 Designer 35 RLTS to fulltime in. We really like the RLTS and love the floorplan and livability.
We sold our Eagle 251 RLS today, actually they will pick it up next weekend after we empty it.
Please tell me the the Good, Bad and the Ugly of the Designer 35 RLTS. What should we look for during inspection, make sure we have and make sure it is included.
Below is a list of the options on the unit we are looking at,
10 cu. ft. refrigerator
Bike rack
Carefree® SideOut Kover II awnings for slideouts (3)
Customer Value Package
Deluxe entertainment center w/ 42" HD LCD TV
Fiberglass shower in lieu of garden tub
Fireplace, 5100 BTU
Generator prep
High-gloss Gel-coat fiberglass sidewall exteriors
MOR/ryde® Suspension & Pin Box Package
Provincial Glazed Maple cabinetry
Thermal pane tinted safety glass windows
All comments and input is welcome and appreciated. We want to get this right the first time.

Hey Eric ... don't tell anyone, but Dave sure cooks up a mean Steak and Shrimp combo on the grill !!! :B
CRUZ - M_GO_BLUE1ExplorerDave,
Congrats on your upcoming retirement! Get on the road, don't look back and start enjoying yourselves and if your ever in this neck of the woods don't hesitate to let me know...
Eric - 2QAYLExplorerSorry to hear from those that have been experiencing problems. On the other hand, routine maintenance on these diesels is a bit hard to take too....just spent over $400 (Canadian so about $300 in real money, i.e. USD)for an oil change, fuel filter, and rear differential lube change. Over $200 just for the rear differential every 15,000 miles. The Service Manager who helped himself to $750 of my hard-earned cash for work on Jan's PT last month said it was because of the gold leaf they put in it.:S
Better news, Jan and I just bought a laptop so we can stay connected on our retirement travels....did I mention I was retiring?:p...under 6 months to go now. Even better...we're starting to see some above-freezing temperatures. There might be an end to this winter yet.
Finally, hey Cruz, I hope you and Beth have a very good and safe trip. When I was a kid my Mom's criteria for going on a picnic was that if she could see "enough sun to make a sailor's pants"; we went. Hopefully you'll get lucky and find a patch of sun along the coast. From what I've seen of winter pictures the surf can be extraordinary at this time of the year. I'll bet the Devil's Churn at Cape Perpetua will be wild!
Dave - M_GO_BLUE1ExplorerWelcome to the group everyone of having either your rig or truck in the shop (for us back in July 2008 we had both in the shop courtesy of the ?>%$#! driver on the freeway decided to take out the truck and 5er)...hope you all get yours fixed quickly!
Loyd...send me the pic and I'll post it... - L_MMusicExplorerI'll bite, CHV_FRK...what did you do??
Our rig is in the shop this week getting the back end fixed after our unfortunate *kiss* with the gas station pylon.
Interestingly, the guys doing the repair showed me that the end cap wasn't even attached to the body with the screws under the moulding. The installers caught the edge of the end cap, but didn't get a clean through and through!:h
