- loydtExplorerOk, somebody with their Designer nearby go and flip on the pump switch in the bathroom. Let me know if it causes the switch to light up in the main control panel in the kitchen and in the cargo area next to the water dist. manifold. Mine does not, but does on my 05 Designer. This was always handy because you knew if the pump was on by one of the switches somewhere.
- cruzExplorerewagnr,
Yep ... still have it. Still have the darn house too !!!
Have thought about a Stinger foldable motorcycle trailer to pull behind the 5'r ... The bike has a receiver hitch, and the trailer is light enough (180 lbs) that, if we found ourselves in a state that does not allow triple tow, I (or my wife)could tow it with the bike.
The distance from the axles to the rear of the coach pretty much eliminates the feasibility of a bike lift on the back. You would get too much of a "diving board" effect, and it would tax the frame too much.
Haven't looked into it deep enough yet to determine what my overall length would be, but it would add about 900 lbs to the bottom line !!
Would REALLY like to trade the Wing for a BMW R1200RT. Had the opportunity to rent one for a few days over in Switzerland ... very impressive !
CRUZ - ewagnrExplorerWell Dawn and I are looking for a TV for the 35RLTS we are expecting in a couple of weeks. After looking at everyone's profiles looks like an even split between 3/4 ton SRW's and 1 ton duallys.
Has anyone weighed their rigs loaded? Wondering how difficult it is to load it to over 15000 lb.
Won't start anything over gas v diesel, already decided on diesel. Just trying to decide on SRW v DRW.
Looking hard at new Chevys. We get a GM discount, and rebates for our situation total $5250. Over $10000 off sticker all told! Just have to fight for a decent trade-in allowance...
Eric - ewagnrExplorercruz,
noticed in your profile...
1988 Honda Goldwing - been all over the country and Canada on it - Now to visit those places when we go full time ... hopefully soon !!
Do you still have the Wing? What do you think of hauling one with the Designer? I've got an 1800 that I'd like to bring along when we start snowbirding in '09.
Eric - 2QAYLExplorerAnyone besides us find the translucent glass doors on the living room cabinets to be an annoyance? We're not real happy with them because you can see all the stuff that's behind them which rather detracts from the attractive appearance of the area. I think that when we get home I'll get an auto or glass shop to put either an opaque or mirror finish on the back so you can't see through them. It seems to me that the one's in our previous trailers were mirrored and they did look neater. Mind you I'm getting to be a fussy old coot so maybe it just doesn't trouble other folks.
Cranky Dave - 2QAYLExplorerA cautionary note on Jayco Designer valences:
On both our 2000 Designer 3110RLTS and our 2006 34RLQS we had problems with the valences, i.e. the upholstered box-like fixtures that hold the drapes and day/night shades, being insufficiently anchored. In both cases we had them actually fall out during travel; and in the case of the 34RLQS, doing some damage both to the interior of the trailer and to the shade in the process. Now we've had a similar problem with the shade at the rear of the curb-side slide, i.e. the slide with the 2 chairs and table, in the new trailer. It was secured by only 2 screws, and the one furthest from the curb wall had missed anything substantial and pulled out. The valence didn't fall because it remained secure with one screw but how long that would have lasted is anyone's guess. I think it's worth checking to make sure the screws are all into something solid and to even run a few more screws in to make sure. Even the long valence over the couch has only three screws which IMHO is hardly sufficient.
To be fair, I should say that this minor problem is the only negative issue we've encountered with this trailer so far.
Dave - CHV_FRKExplorerYou have to use the remote to access nearly all the functions on the radio. Good thing there is more glass doors for "replacement" equipment.

Ok as we continue to have fun with the Designer new questions arise, such as how do you get AM stations on the radio inside? - M_GO_BLUE1ExplorerOk as we continue to have fun with the Designer new questions arise, such as how do you get AM stations on the radio inside?
- eaherrmannExplorerM Go Blue, I too remember being told that the awning was completely automatic, ie retract if rain gathers or if the wind got to high, guess we'll have to see.
Start the gennie and the commode flushes. Step on the commode pedal and the awning extends or retracts:h
