- ChrisatthebeachExplorerCurrent truck bought used for less than first house price in 1985.
I do not see me buying a new truck, a new F250 diesel King Ranch lists for over 70,000, I could afford one but I see spending that as stupid.
I will rebuild what I have until parts are not available, by then I will be too old to need it anymore.
Current house worth a LOT more than the first and worth more than all the new trucks I could use for the rest of my life. Got lucky and bought waterfront coastal property at the right time for the right price. - transamz9ExplorerI once paid more for a car than the house I was living in and it really bothered me and I said I would never buy another vehicle that was worth more than my house. I fixed that problem for a while 12 years ago. I built a more expensive house. LOL! I don't see me buying a vehicle worth $300,000 for a few more years.
- valhalla360NavigatorYeah, but I got a good deal on the 5th wheel at $4k and the truck at $6k (both used).
But yes, new trucks are silly expensive. - Toolguy5Explorer IIIMy truck cost more then both houses that I have owned put together. You can also add my first 2 new vehicles in that and still can't reach the cost of my truck. But again both were bought in the 70's.
But I purchased my first house in 1975. Second house we purchased in 1978. - midnightsadieExplorer III could afford a new truck, but theres no way I,m paying 60k or more for some over priced truck.
- 2112Explorer III recall my mom saying she would never pay more for a car than she did for their house. They paid $14K in 1952. She would be buying a used car in todays market.
- KKELLER14KExplorer IIOh a funny topic. Home is where the heart is. Home base can be many things or any where. Home in your RV is priceless.

Did your truck cost more than the house you live in now?
Ahhh - what does this have to do with *Fifth Wheels"?
Silly question, but I'll answer anyway - the first house in So. CA the DW and I purchased in 1971 (about 1600 sq ft) cost a whopping twenty two thousand dollars.
It was about a year old, the owner was being transferred to MN, so
he carried a $2K second and I pd him $500 cash (which I got with my credit card) and financed the remainder.
That same house sold recently for close to a mil.
The house I live in now, I purchased in 1987 for $217 thousand, which is about two miles from my first house.
The homes on my street sell for around a mil also - depending on the model, sq ft, etc.
In 1985 I bought a 1T Ferd crew cab diesel - which was WAY less than
the house I bought 2 years later in 1987.
But to answer your Q - *NO* my 2005 truck cost WAY less than the house I live in now (even in 2005), and it sure hasn't appreciated in value like the house..:R
BTW - couldn't afford to buy my own house now, wish I had bought two "back when" - - but could still afford a new truck (if I wanted one).
So there ya have it..:W
