Honda eu3000i Handi was made to be lighter and more portable than their legendary eu3000is which comes in at 130 plus pounds. Although both are rated up to 3000 watts the eu3000is is rated for 2800 watts continuous while the Handi is 2600.
The engine size is smaller on the Handi eu3000i helping it to weigh just 80 pounds, but it puts out less power and is significantly louder topping out at a very loud 65db when putting out rated power. In fact, the Handi's 57db at 1/4 load (650 watts) is nearly as high as the 58db the original eu3000is at max load of 2800 watts, at 1/4 load (700 watts) it's only 48db, the heavier 3K watt unit is truly quiet, more so than any 2000 watt unit produced by Honda or Yamaha.
The Honda Handi eu3000i has the handles and wheels as part of the generator, the heavier Honda eu3000is has available wheel kit that includes handles making it easier to maneuver the 130 plus pound unit. It boils down to what is more important to you, portability in the lighter weight of the eu3000i Handi, or a bit more power and significantly quieter eu3000is. Pricing is pretty close if you plan to add the wheel kit to the larger unit.
And the "IS" is electric start with a battery. The Handi is hand crank. No battery.
And has a larger fuel tank, giving more than double the run time.

And one has wheels, one does not, one weighs almost twice as much, different size engines, electric start on one of them.
