everything but my slideouts are working

my trailer slideouts come directly off the battery using these auto-reset 12VDC circuit breakers... These breakers are hanging off the battery terminals. When the slideouts draw too much current from dragging or low DC VOLTAGE they will cause this 12VDC circuit breaker to trip. Then around 2-4 seconds later the circuit breaker will reset itself after cooling down and it will try to operate again.

Found this photo on google showing four such circuit breakers being used to control slideouts and landing gear from a WildcatCamper forum. These are apparently mounted on the wall adjacent to the batteries.



I have a similar arrangement connected directly to the 12VDC battery positive terminal on my off-road popup for raising the electric operated roof. Straping two together like this apparently doubles the current capability of the circuit breaker. My POPUP has two 25AMP circuit breakers strapped together.

If you wiggle the wire and there was a slight reaction from the slide motors, and the battery connections are clean and tight, sounds like a break in the line in that area. I would get a piece of #10 wire, and working from the battery, I would route it to the first connection. Try and see if things work. If not, keep on going to the second connection. Don't leave any protection devices out (fuse, circuit breaker, auto circuit breaker)but install the wire at those devices. Should tell you right away if you have a short circuit.

Slide-out circuits typically DO NOT pass thru the 12V fusebox, but have in line circuit breakers somewhere near the battery.
The reason is they have a heavy current draw and the voltage drop thru the fusebox is too much.
Check the fat wires from your battery positive to see if there is a manually resettable circuit breaker there.
Otherwise you need to trace the wires back from your slide motor to see where they lead.

not familar with your unit or setup, but if you wiggled wires and got a reaction, that reaction might have blown the fuse. Chek the battery and the fuses again. Had a Prowler years ago that the fuse box for the slide was not with the others. They, in their wisdom (?), had mounted that fuse under the bed. Lot's of fun to even check let alone replace.

I'd finish the electrical before the rum. They don't mix well!

When I had hooked up my battery reversed, I blew a non-resettable circuit breaker on the tongue that controlled the slide motor. They are only $3-4 so it's not an expensive problem.

My fiancé has the brains here, I was sitting and thinking, so she called out friends to come over.. he is coming with the battery tester... God I could go for some rum!!!

Check the charge on the battery. I learned the hard way that some slides depend on a battery with a good charge regardless of being plugged in to shore power or not. Good luck.

My one thought is the auto reset breaker, the fuse was good, but the sleeve itself looked pretty gummed up...

Not to sound stupid, even if the camper is plugged into the house, the battery could still be the cause..

Wiggling wires and making slides sorta work means you have bad/loose connection.

IF you have clean, tight connections...wiggling the wires should have NO affect.

Check connections at battery, at any in-line fuses, DC circuit breakers.
Slides are wired directly from batteries and have their own protection (fuses/CBs).
