Ex -rental Jayco 26.5 RLS

Went and looked at a 2015 ex rental. Sales guy says that they get a few units from Jayco specifically for rental. The floor plan is the same but a few subtle things like lino step to bedroom. Anyone have a inside scoop on rental use units? Sadly dealer wants almost the same price as a new unit and there is NO Jayco warranty as it was used as a rental......

Discussion not too long ago about used Class C MHs from one
of the big name rental companies.

Xln't pricing, completely refurbished - with one year warranty.
And, of course, that has a driveline.

So (IMO) that dealer is "bottom of the barrel" -

It would normally go to the *AUCTION* lot/s - maybe that's where it came from!..:(

    Run Forest, run!!..:W

    X7 Or X8 what ever!!
Unless the dealer is willing to cone well down on the selling price, this is a USED (VERY), and without a warranty I would be telling hime to take a hike.

  • Rentals get a short and rough life for the most part. It should be deeply discounted since it has had rental use.

    No way.

I would think that renters aren't going to care, or even know about proper use of systems and what not. It's like buying a rental property...Usually a gut job.

I would much prefer a previously owned unit. You can tell a lot about the previous owners by the state of their rig. Some are immaculate, some are badly beaten.
  • I considered renting a unit once but everything I saw had a rough life. Stair carpet was badly soiled, mattress quality was bad, there were nicks and scratches in most of the interiors and there were cabinet doors that may not have been 100% functional. Walking around outside you could see the lack of previous driving skills, if I could put it that way.

So you are probably looking at a unit with fresh mattresses, the carpet removed to reveal the already installed hard floor, and some inexpensive detailing and repair inside and out. The dealer may have swapped out some worn parts as well.

My BIL once bought a class C and put it in a rental program that was similar to a condo time-share program. The $$$ worked out for him since he also got some scheduled use of his RV and the program lasted 3 years. I took his class C out a couple of times, once in later years, and he liked that because I was handy and could fix things as they broke. On my last trip in that RV I worked on it more then I did anything else. At 12 years old and 70,000 miles it was completely shot. No water damage like many older units, but completely used up.

  • seems a renal unit would have had a rough life ,walk. find a used unit that a little old lady only used on sunday ,there out there, got a guy next door with a garaged boat, has not moved in the 12 years he,s lived there.

  • Since they said there is no warrantee because it was a rental then the price should be marked down for full depreciation and used price. Some things don't add up so be careful.
