The trailer I am looking to purchase has a gvwr of 9900, a payload of 1574, and a pin weight of 1660. I travel with my wife, 2 kids, and 2 dogs totaling about 525. And I assume a hitch would weight in at around 160. Is my truck going to be able to handle this or should I stick with my bumper pull? Thanks for any guidance.
Welcome to the forum.
You've asked a age old question "will my 2500 chevy pull it" which is a good question as most experienced folks around here know what your truck and the Dmax/A can carry and pull. It sure won't have any issues pulling the small 9900 GVWR 5th wheel trailer or carrying its pin weight and your other "stuff".
Your 2500 with 18" optional wheels and tires is the same truck as the 3500 SRW.... other than higher rated rear spring pack on the 3500 SRW.
As Russ mentions you have the truck so load it and head for the scales and weigh the trucks separate front and rear axles.
Now pay attention to the trucks rear axle weight numbers as its going to carry all the weight of a trailer hitch load.
Your truck may have a 6084 or 6200 RAWR......your trucks rear axle may weigh in the 3000 lb range which leaves you with a 3084-3200 lb payload for the trailers pin weight. Your actual scaled weights will tell you the exact numbers.
You'll be amazed how easy the truck will handle that small trailer. great match.
