I had an '03 Sierra 2500HD D/A for 10 yrs. First fiver had a dry pin weight of 1550 lbs and 2nd has a dry pin weight of 1890 lbs and total dry weight of 9200 lbs. Both fivers had GVWRs over 12k lbs. My truck also had a 45 gal. Transfer Flow fuel tank and custom utility bed that added 400 lbs to the truck.
You might exceed the Sierra's 9200 lb GVWR, but here in Tx, you can change your registration to a higher GVWR.
