They put off the same heat as most portable space heaters. If your rig doesn't contain one these electric fireplaces they can be readily purchased locally or online.
You use to be able to get them cheaper than that and get them at Lowes or Home Depot..ie, the one's that aren't free standing and take up more space, but the one's that are built into a space, which is what I believe most have and are talking about...Mine is built into a space just below my televison... - NC_HaulerExplorer

Come on Bumpy...I watch TV programs on my TV...I don't watch a "crackling fire" and listen to Christmas carols unless it's Thanksgiving to Christmas....We get it, you don't like them...I have two 1500 watt ceramic heaters that I paid about $15 each for, but they don't do what the fireplace does. ..you don't like them, they're a waste, they're a joke, but it appears the MAJORITY in here LIKE them....So now that we understand you have $17 ceramic heaters, can the rest of us, and it appears MOST of the posters, talk about WHY we like them: - Sandia_ManExplorer IIThey put off the same heat as most portable space heaters. - BB_TXNomadI am with the vast majority. Ours did not have one. I installed one. Love it. And our next one will have one also.
- diesel_man_03ExplorerWe also love ours.
- tmoore2ExplorerIt was 44 degrees in Chama, NM. Monday morning and the fireplace warmed the living room up in about 20 minutes.

a waste of space/weight/ and money. a $17 cube heater from walmart puts out the same heat. if you like phony ambiance, go for it. saw one years back in a truck camper. if there is any thing that you need less weight, more storage in it would be a TC.

An RV is a waste of energy, weight, money and resources. A $50 tent and a $25 sleeping bag, along with a few pots and pans, will allow for necessary shelter. If you want or need all that excess creature comfort, go for it. :W LOL - AUWingExplorerIncluded one in the new trailer and happy to have it. Convenient, looks good and works well at taking the chill off. When we were shopping for a new rig, we noticed some look pretty cheesy / phony and others looked better so make sure you get to see them in operation. Nice to be able to watch a movie with my feet pointed toward the electrical glow on a rainy day.

Ours works great as well. What is nice when the furnace is on and the bedroom door closed it gets very warm in the bedroom. That leaves the living room a little chilly. You turn the fireplace on and it takes the chill off the living area.
We had the kids stay a couple of nights had the fireplace on to keep them warm when sleeping on the sofa bed.
I always thought why would you want a fireplace in a camper. But I would buy one again with one in it.

Agree Dan, When I first saw it, I thought, "how stupid", what a waste...BUT.....it grows on you, and to some that think the flames "look cheap" or whatever, in reality, I was impressed as were others that would visit us while camping and the fireplace was on...We too have one in our bedroom, (added by me), no room lost and it adds an "ambiance" that the wife and I think is really nice...both in the bedroom and in the living room..
