    6.2L gas or 6.7L diesel?
  • Worst with present Dodge/Cummins was 9.9-10.2 mpgs (pencil figures) for 590 miles pulling my old very flat front profile square corners 11400 lb 5th wheel rv trailer.
We followed a large CO/TX/OK/KS thunder storm with 38-42 mph blow back head winds for that trip that lasted over 13 hours/590 miles till we made it home.

Worst ever was 4 mpgs in the late '70s using 460/454 with 4.10-4.56 gears carbureted big blocks one ton drw trucks pulling heavy GN flatdeck trailers. Gas stations had gas wars back then with 18-20 cents a gallon gas.
  • Over years of watching it, I found a cross wind is worse than straight-on head wind. Worse is front quarter, where pushing against front and side.
  • 70mph, some head wind and rolling hills towing a 5er getting 11. Not calling anyone a liar but speed kills.
  • Strong head wind can make a huge difference. Typical drive over flat to rolling country with little wind at 70 mph my 2012 F350 6.7 would avg about 11. A little head wind would drop to 10. A lot of headwind down to about 9.
