Ford PS 2015

Pop for extended full warranty regardless of which one you buy, peace of mind is worth the extra $$.

I was in the same boat and ordered a 15.
The refinements are what I wanted, not the power.
So far the truck is great.
Fuel economy seems a little low to me.
I'm getting 13.2 in everyday driving, mostly in town and towing a trailer for work or play about 20% of the time.
Just took an 800 mile trip and got 18 at 75 mph.
Talked to the dealer and he said my mileage is low compared to what he has been seeing and to bring it in.
Considering it has nearly 4200lbs payload and rated to tow 16100, it is hard to say for sure what it should be.
Other wise I love it.

One thing to consider is how long do you keep your trucks? The 2014 will be worth about $45K as soon as you drive it off the lot. If you keep your trucks forever get the best deal you can. Some 2014 models have about $8K in rebates and hold backs to move them.
If it will be used for towing 90% of the time the trans improvements may be worth the $$$.
I agree with others: Get the extended warranty with either if you go many miles. All the new diesels suck for long term reliability.

I have always been one to buy end of model year trucks to get the best deal but I have been reading about the new Ford and really like the upgrades made to the 15. I own a Ram and one of the things I always liked best about the Ram/Cummins is the strength of the exhaust break. Apparently Ford is upgrading the Turbo in the 15 and they claim a much stronger exhaust break. That alone would make me go for the 15 as the exhaust breaking I think is one of the best features of a diesel truck, and the previous Ford break was pretty weak IMO. I say go 15.

Standard advertised discount locally for new '14 Ford Superdutys is $13,500 off MSRP (sticker) including $1,000 off for Ford financing. I bought my '12 F350 King Ranch for $14,000 off MSRP end of July '12, again getting the extra $1000 off for Ford financing. But one month later refinanced at a lower rate from my insurance carrier.
Makes that $60K+ sticker easier to take.

After more test drives today in both 2015 and 2014 SD 350 Platinum, seems the old 2014 SD gen1 6.7 works great. Wish i could try the new 2015 exhaust brake setup with my 13,000gvw TH in tow down a steep grade. Anyone have any experience with this new ex brake ? The 2015 have a button now that turns ex brake off and on, unlike the automatic setup on the 2014, wonder why they did that now...?

I am a cheap mofo, but its not that I can't spring for the extra $$$$ for the 2015, just not sure I see a value in it..? So far have not heard many horror stories on the old gen1 6.7, and no one has convinced me on the merits of this new unproven gen2 6.7 PS, although it sure sounds nice and drives great.
Gen1 6.7PS diffidently does not have problems like the old 6.0 or 6.4. The gen1 6.7 seems to be reliable so far in its 4-5 years and 500,000 units used so far. Any of you guys have high miles on one yet...?

I guess an extra 60tq and 40hp is nice, but to be honest, the 400/800 seems like plenty stout enough for a tow truck. Maybe if I lived off 70 in Colorado and was in the high altitude mountains towing all the time, then maybe the extra power would be useable.
I seem to be conservative and take it very serious when towing a 60' long 22,000lbs rig, and keep my speed down to 60-65mph...70max in a pass. A Chevy would even work for me...lol.

Wish I could find those prices here in S FL. And many left over 2014 SD at every Ford dealer here. Best deal I've got so far is about $7500 off. I might need to fly to TX and pick up one of those $13,500 off deals on my way to Saint Anthony... lol. What city in TX is advertising them with those deep discounts...?

Ford did not change the design of the turbo, and upgrade the tranny and fuel sytem for no reason. Obviously there were flaws in the original design.
Nothing wrong with taking the savings, however new 2014 is now a year old what you save at purchase you lose in immediate depreciation.
What sounds like a deep discount really is just the current market value of the truck now that the 2015 are here.
If you can afford the latest model get the 2015. If funds are tight than there is no decision to be made and take the discounted 2014

Flaws? Maybe that 40 hp & 60 ft lb of torque had something to do with it. That and they are nice marketing bullet points. Just because they "upgrade" something. doesn't necessarily mean it was flawed.

In Dallas area. Prestige Ford is currently advertising $13K off MSRP on Superdutys on their web site. And I believe it was Sam Pack Ford that had $13.5K off MSRP in the paper last weekend. Both included extra $1K off for using Ford credit. But you can refinance with someone else afterward if you want.

When I bought, Prestige Ford was showing $14K off. When I went in, they said yes, $14k off, no questions asked.
BUT. I had gone on their web site, clicked on their link to get a value for my trade-in, and it showed $22K. When we got to talking trade they offered $16K. I said sorry, your web site said $22K and I started to leave. They bumped their offer to $18k. Started leaving again. After one more offer and start to walk, we finally we agreed to $21K for mine plus a 5th wheel hitch at their invoice price rather than their list price. Probably could have gotten the full $22K but was starting to run late for another event. Overall that only took an extra 30 minutes or so. They get very agreeable when you start for the door.

My 2012 F350 diesel moves my 17,000lb 5th wheel like it isn't there. I can tow with the cruise on and it doesn't come out of 6th until I hit a decent sized hill. My old 6.0L would shift all the time.

These new motors are awesome.
