Fuzion Black End-Cap

We have a 2012 Fuzion that has the black end-cap. Have any of you had issues with oxidation? I wax that thing at the beginning of the year and midway through the summer. When I wax it, I always do 2 coats....so can't understand why it is oxidizing like it is. The only part that is having issues, is the top portion. I waxed the end-cap today and everything shined up well, except the upper area. It needed something more than the non-scratching product I use (Pink Luster). Feeling frustrated!
  • I have a cougar with more of a gray cap, but have the same problem. buff's out well, but within a couple weeks oxidizes again. I've been using Meguiars boat/RV line of products. I've considered trying a polymer-based paint sealant to see if that makes a difference.

    Anyone tried that route?

OK, I see it coming.....the fix will be buffing out the oxidation.

Yep all they need to do is get you past the warranty period and it's no longer an issue... for them. ;)
  • We just got off the phone with Keystone, regarding the oxidizing black end cap. They are aware of this issue and will cover the repair. You'll need to take your rig into a dealer, they will review the issue, come up with a fix and work with Keystone. OK, I see it coming.....the fix will be buffing out the oxidation. This will not take care of the issue, so we will push to get the end cap repainted.
  • I have a 2012 306 with the same thing going on top part of end cap fading. Has anyone called KEYSTONE to see if this is a warranty issue.
  • 303 is good stuff i use it on decals and tires. Only thing I would caution is if you plan to repaint, dont think I'd use it. Paint will fish eye.

OK, now for the stupid question, , , , what is 303??

Not a stupid question at all. 303 is a Protectant, similar to ArmorAll yet totally different as it doesn't cause long term problems like AA would, and it's pretty well respected. They claim it to be like sunscreen for your rig. Check it out. They make several products the one most refer to is the 303® Aerospace Protectant.

  • Try living in the desert with one!! I wax with an orbital buffer and the thing fades in two weeks. Just like yours, only the top section fades. I chalked it up to cheap paint from Keystone.

If I repaint mine, it will be a much cooler color too. The heat from the black can be felt in the master bedroom as you walk in.

OK, now for the stupid question, , , , what is 303??

    Thanks
  • I worry about the same thing as the front cap on my Fuzion is black and there have been a lot of stories on the keystone forum about the front cap fading. Owners have gotten them repainted. Its weird to me that the black color isn't gel coated in like a boat, but rather just painted, especially since the cap is just one color with stickers.
