NO on the pvc pipe. If you look at the instructions it will show you how to extend the 'exhaust' pipe to the left or right.
I would take it to a muffler shop and have them make you an extension off the generator exhaust using the same hole and pin method that is on the genturi. So you can remove it when not in use. They will have the equipment to correctly bend the pipe.
My gen exhaust pipe IMHO did not extend far enough away from the side of the MH. I had a muffler shop put a new exhaust extension off the gen. I think they charged me all of $10 bucks to do it.
IMHO the Genturi is the only way to go. The patented pipe they use is NOT hot to the touch. You can run that gen 24 7's as I have, and you can grab that pipe and it is cold. Home made ones out of gutters etc are metal and are HOT to the touch and could burn the side of your RV and not to mention if someone or a child walks by your MH and touches it they could get burned. Just saying.
