Generator- gasoline or propane?

We have a gas powered jenny, for over 5 years. Always have a concern if it will start after 5 or 6 months in storage, We add Sea Foam to our fuel system, so far, it has worker, but i spray a little starting fluid into the carburetor every time we use it.
