I always thought GY would fix damage from any of their trailer tires except for road hazard?

My tire that lost it's tread was almost 4 yrs old....GY paid have paid for damage on my 5er, but it was minimal...they replaced all four tires free of charge....again, when the mechanics removed the tire, it was noticed that my springpack on that that axle side was sagging quite a bit...They told me about it and when I saw it I thought, uh-oh, this one's on me...BUT The Wingfoot business (GY), did all the paperwork and ended up putting 4 brand new G614's on my 5er..(then I got a new springpack)...

This also happened in October of 2010, just one more camping trip planned and I got everything taken care of in a week...so I didn't lose any time with that one, which by the way, was the first and only tire failure I've had since 75' when I started towing on a regular basis.

Yeah, I would prefer a tire that last the duration, but considering how "MY" tire failed (tread removed and never lost 1 psi), this one I truly believe was caused by a weak/sagging spring pack that only left about 1" of room between 5er wheel well and tire..

For tires on my 5er, truck and SUV, I deal with a local tire dealer who wants repeat business and referrals. I would have no problem giving him the old carcass and let him do most all the work. That is part of me paying a bit more for a set of tires.

Had a bubble on sidewall of one Marathon with maybe 1500 miles on them. I was warned about these tires on another web-site. Took all the precautions including TPMS. I called GY and they credited me for all four tires toward G614's, after inspection by local GY dealer. I've heard some have problems working with GY, but all went well for me. Maybe it depends who the CSR is that you deal with.

And there is not one other tire company out there that will do that!

I have had 1 set GY E wranglers that come factory on Avion Platinum, then replaced after 5 years with GY G tires then 5 years with those tires, original GY G's on current MS replaced after 5 years with GY H's.

Never even had a flat on any of the RV's.

My Dad had a couple blowouts on his 94 HH Premier with the GY G's. GY replaced the tires and paid for all repairs PROMPTLY. He has not had a flat or blowout with any of the tires dated after mid 07.

Claims on your insurance cost. Buying quality tires cost. I would rather ride on quality.

When a G614 blew the dealer faxed the claim to Goodyear, gave me a copy, and kept the tire. At the end of my trip there was a letter in my mailbox telling me to get an estimate for repairs and to send pictures. Claim was paid plus cost of new tire.

Not true, I lost the tread on my GY 614, (manufacture date 0606). Gave the tire to GY so they could evaluate and they ended up giving me 4 new tires....I also found out that a weak spring pack was probably the cause of the tire losing it's tread, (the mechanics found this, only 1" of clearance, but GY picked up the tab anyway....I had springpack replaced and no more issues).


Still would like to know what GY tire the OP had...Marathons or G614s.
