Gray Water Tank on HitchHiker

I have a 2009 H H with the gray water tank problem I pulled out the

handle to drain the water with no problem, but I cannot push it back in.

Does anyone know what the problem might be. I had no problem with the

black tank or the kitchen tank. We haven't been out yet but leaving

next week with 3 grand daughters could be fun.
  • You pulled it too hard maybe your pulling is stronger than your pushing.

I take it your not on sewer if you can't get it back in your only option is get a gate valve for the outlet pipe then you can fill the gray and drain the gray.
  • They are cable operated........
Have to open enclosed underbelly to gain access to the cable
Could be a kink in sheath, could be cable support broke so it just flexes, could be bent at valve etc

Won't/can't know until you LOOK at it

    AS suggested.....
Get a twist lock dump valve ----goes on end of drain line.

I installed an extra valve on common drain header (in long run before it turns out to the side).
Didn't want the added weight of the twist on valve hanging out at end of drain line while traveling

  • Spray some penetrating oil on the shaft right where it goes through the support/mounting bracket behind the T handle. That area is subject to corrosion and can make the handle very hard to move. I spray ours several times a year and realize that it is a very small area but it sure does make the valve work easier.

On our 2007 HH2 the galley tank valve has been stuck in the OPEN position for several years. Fortunately, that is in the OPEN position so I put on that valve at the end of the drain line and have operated it that way for all these years. I preferred this to tearing out the enclosed bottom of the trailer and dealing with repairing the valve.

This has been no problem. It just means that the galley tank always drains first when I open the valve at the end of the line. The other two valves remain closed until I dump them.
  • Thanks for all the advice not sure what I will do yet. I may drop a small part of the underbelly to see what I can do or what it looks like. I guess its better stuck open than closed.
