I just got back from having Maxxis tires installed. The new Maxxis tires present very well. The sidewalls are smooth without one ply overlap. The casing design allows for a slightly rounded tread base. The tread has no siping . Both of these features are preferred for trailer use. They will reduce the torque on the suspension components during a tight turn. The tires handle much different that the Mastertrac, Power Towing tires that were removed. The MT tires felt like sponge while towing. The new Maxxis are one load range heavier E.
I inspected the Mastertrac tires closely and found no signs of failure. The inside band had no lines or pinches present. My thoughts are the Master track tires were built to the new standard of 2 plies polyester + 2 plies steel + 1 ply nylon. 2 plies polyester sidewall are as good as any of the new ST tires out there. I am still happy that I moved to a load range E tire. My trailer is a 10,000gvw rig.
