my fiver came with 235/80R/16 I took all 4 off today and am going tomorrow. My rims are chinese and dont say anything about max air pressure. They are rated for 3950LBS I have 6k axles. GVW is 14k.
Your wheels are rated at 3950 lbs and will be fine for 110 psi.
If you go with a 3750 lb G rated tire I sure wouldn't derate them with 80 psi as the benefit of the G tire comes only at those higher pressures.
At only 80 psi they will run hotter than at 100-110 psi. Been there and tried that it on my GN trailers when I was young and less experienced. Derating a tire on a heavy trailer never worked for me especially on those long all day runs at interstate speeds. Heat builds up and tread delam can after several events.
A better tire would be the Bridgestone R-250 or the Michelin XPS Rib in a LT235/85-16 E tire at 3042 lbs capacity both are a all steel ply carcass commercial grade tire for 6+k axles.
Your 14k GVWR trailer may have 2800-3000 lb of pin weight which leaves 11k on the trailers axles or 2750-2800 lbs per tire.
The LT E at 3042 lb capacity will give the tires a nice reserve capacity for many years of trouble free service.
I will check out Mich RIB I guess. I also wonder if I will have fitting issues with a diff size???
The R-250 is the same commercial grade tire and will be cheaper than the Ribs.
The ST235/80-16 has a 28.8" diameter vs the LT235/85-16 E at 31.8".
The G614 G load range at 110 psi shows a 30.7" diameter.
The trailers owner will always have to check for 1" minimum between the tires and enough clearance at the top of the tire and sides of the tire. We can't do that for you......however a real tire dealer with real trailer experience will do that for you.
I sure wouldn't put any ST tire regardless of brand on a trailer that size.
