has nothing to do with pivot....It's so simple that some may be overlooking the obvious. You pull up on a scale and weigh your truck, ready to camp..heck, it doesn't matter if it's loaded to camp or not...drive onto the scale and weigh your truck...let's say the drive axle, rear axle (where weight being put in the bed of your truck, on your 5er hitch is going to show up)..weight is 3800#...Now you drive home, hook up your 5er...ie, you just lowered the king pin of your 5er onto the 5th wheel hitch in the bed of your truck, you now weigh your truck and the rear axle weight shows 6800#...ONLY thing you've done is put the king pin of your 5er onto the hitch, it increased from 3800# to 6800#...Take weight now, 6800# (loaded), and subtract unloaded weight of 3800# and you have 3,000# of pin weight...The DEFINITION of "PIN WEIGHT"....amount of weight setting on the hitch...you also said the same thing I've been saying...
When I weighed everything on a CAT scale it's probably the most level piece of land I've parked on with my 5er since living in the mountains of WV, VA and NC :).....
I'm strictly using the definition of how Pin weight is "defined"....what part of that does so many not understand...it's not MY definition...Some actual experts HAD to HAVE come up with it...heck I'm an Engineer and agree that any other weight spread out on my truck should count as pin weight, but definition doesn't state that...and I do know quite a bit about my truck, it's frame, it's suspension, it's tranny, it's GVWR, GCWR, RAWR, FAWR, TQ, HP and capabilities.
