Technically you can't buy a Grade 8 bolt in a metric size. I suggest you look for Class 8.8 minimum but think you would be better served with a Class 10.9 bolt. You probably will have to go to a real hardware store or a bolt supplier.
Belmetric is a quality online
business that has a wide range of metric bolts
So what grade would you compare the CURT bolt to? - FlatBrokeExplorer IIMost bolts in an engine are torqued. The engine heats and cools thousands of times. How often do you re-torque those bolts?
- Curly2001Explorer IIWill go to the local nut and bolt shop where they specialize in hardware. Large industrial supplier here in town.

Just checked the instructions again and it says check torque after the initial 500 miles and at 1,000 miles thereafter. Not too happy about every 1,000 miles. Will order a new set of bolts and go from there. The new trucks are a real pain due to the bed height. I have to tow a little nose high now to keep the bed rail clearance.

Order? As in from CURT or somewhere you can get a higher quality bolt like mentioned above. - Curly2001Explorer IIJust checked the instructions again and it says check torque after the initial 500 miles and at 1,000 miles thereafter. Curly - Curly2001Explorer III will check to see if the directions say after the first 500 miles and let you know.

- fj12ryderExplorer IIIJust a thought, use some anti-seize on those bolts if you think you'll be pulling them off occasionally. Just lower the torque settings by about 15%.
