Husky 16 k glider opinions

Need to buy a new hitch. I had Pullrite superglide which I sold when i sold my truck.

I am looking at other options. The Husky glider looks like it would be good. Does anyone have one and how do you like or not like.

How well does it work. Is it completely manual or does it go back into home position by itself?

  • I've had mine for 5 years, no problems. I do like that you can look and see that you are positively hitched.
  • Got mine in 2002, still works like new! Never had any problem at all! It's now in the second Truck!
  • I've had my Husky 16K slider for 10 yrs and not one problem. It still looks brand new. Easy to take out too.
  • I have had one for 4 years and had no problems with it. I never used the slider function as it was intended but only to give more room in front of the hitch when parked overnite. I had no problems with it. I now have a Curt Q5 non slider for the weight difference. The Husky was much easier to hook up and unhook. The Curt is very fussy about angles and lineup. The Husky as long as the pin went into the "V" on the hitch it would scoot the trailer over or whatever needed and latch. Visual confirmation is easy on both. The Husky is noisier when stopping and taking off as there are more parts.

With the newer trailers a slider is not always necessary. You might look closely. I have had 2 Crossroads and now a Cyclone and didn't need a slider with a 6.5 bed for any of them. (2011,2013,2015)
  • I have a Valley/Husky (same thing)and have had no problems with it. They are manual, no auto sliding of any kind. Some don't like the bar type that slides in front of the kingpin, but it sure is easy to see if you are properly hitched. I've got no complaints and you can remove it yourself since it is a two piece hitch.
