I am in the sad process of selling my truck camper to come to the dark side of 5th wheels. We have already selected the 5th wheel, Keystone Cougar 244RL. We want short and this 26'9" overall length is the max I can double-tow (already researched). This will be a huge space increase from my truck camper. My question: The local dealer carries Husky brand hitches and I need a minimum of 16k. I am not against the rails in the bed, so that is not an issue. Truck is in the Sig. I can get the hitch for close to cost, but I do not want to skimp out on something this important. So, thoughts on the Husky hitches? When I was FTing with my 5ver I had a Reese 20k pro hitch. It had rails but special locks to prevent theft. Worth taking a look at. It tilted both directions so no problem hitching on unlevel ground. Dealer told me it was over kill but a great hitch.

i dont care for them.if you want it right whats cost versus a b&w for under 500.00 get a american made hitch.trust me he is not giving it to you at cost the money is somewhere.

I too have the Husky 16K manual slide hitch. Not sure what is so special about a B&W, but I do know I can hook up to the Husky, pull the camper wherever I want, and unhook from said camper, and then repeat over and over. Pretty much seems like that is the same thing any other hitch would do. The four way articulating head works great, as I pretty much only boondock off of National Forest access roads.
I also pull doubles. 26.5' fifth wheel and 3,000 lbs. of trailer w/ATV's. I added a MOR/ryde pin box to the camper and it pulls great.

I have the same hitch as Old-Biscuit....
No issues for me...
Love the full articulated head... Makes for much easier hook-up/un-hooking.

I have the Husky 16K slider and use with my 2014 Alpine 3010RE. I have zero issues with this unit. The articulated head makes for easy connection of the fiver to the truck hitch if I am out boon docking and not on level ground.

The hitch is quite in operation. I have the teflon slide plate mounted on the fiver pin and I don't know the thing is back there when towing.

So, I would buy this hitch again and have no issues

Previously had a Husky 16K then later new truck + larger fiver and replaced with a Husky 26K for same price as the 16k. No issues with either one.

I have used my Husky 16k for over 4 years and 25k miles and has been flawless. I kept the Husky when I traded trucks from my 08 Ford to a 2011 Ford with the 5th wheel Prep package. I found the adapter on Amazon. Husky is easy to remove and easy to install. Mine sits low enough, even with the Adapter, that I can pull my Toneau soft top cover over it and you never know its there.

Seriously go LOOK at a B&W then decide. Nothing worse than wishing you had done something different!

I just LOOKED at a PullRite at Camping world today. They are nice looking hitches and made in USA but they are not even close to a B&W, much lighter weight construction.

Here is a nice Video for a B&W Patriot. For $400.00 you are not going to find a better hitch.
