- LantleyNomadI agree the FLR's may have hotter Lounge area . However that is what A/C is for.
The new units now have quiet A/C which makes having the 2nd A/C going all the time less of an issue.
I don't think the heat is a deal breaker - fj12ryderExplorer III

All you're basically doing in the bedroom is sleeping...most of the time. :) With the living room, you're watching TV, have the lights on, moving around, and just creating more heat in general. And you're more likely to be there during daylight hours when it can be warmer due to the sun shining on the roof.
For those of you who mentioned that it gets hot up in the front living room, what about all the trailers with master bedrooms up front? It seems like the majority of the trailers out there have their bedrooms up front, so what about the heat issue with those units? - LexxExplorerFor those of you who mentioned that it gets hot up in the front living room, what about all the trailers with master bedrooms up front? - fj12ryderExplorer IIII don't care for most that I've seen because, as was mentioned, there is basically no view and it's like being in a cave. However I did see a Grand Design, I think, that had no wall between the living room and the rest of the trailer. That made for a very nice open feeling, and would help keep it from being so warm with trapped air. The main downside was there were steps up to the living room, and steps up to the bedroom.
The kitchen/dining area was correspondingly dark because there were no windows to the rear or to one side because of the kitchen slide. Two smaller windows on one wall were the only outside lighting. - goducks10ExplorerUnless you have several people over often then I seen no reason for two sofas and a theater seat. Most of the sofas aren't replaceable with residential sofas because of the slide out mechanism under them.
Most RV parking spots aren't that wide. Every time you need to walk around the side from the front you either have to duck under the slide or walk out on the grass or dirt.
Heat rises. The front of a 5th wheel is hotter than the lower areas. If you live or travel to hot areas then you'll need to run the front AC a lot.
It's nice concept but has too many flaws for me.
I would much rather have a RD (Rear Den) version. There's really nothing to look at from the front of a 5th wheel. Most view options are on the pull though's or back in. I would feel like I'm in a cave. - BB_TXNomadActually some of the front living plans have lower pin weights than an equivalent length rear living plan. Check the specs. For example, a Montana 3731FL has a (dry) pin weight of 2,680 at 39'-8". Whereas a 3721RL has a pin weight of 2,840 at 39'-7". That is 140 lbs lighter on the pin for the front living.
It is really personal preference. Those who actually own the front living plans seem to love them. Only real complaint I have heard repeated is that some have a problem with the A/C cooling the living area, at least in some of the earlier models. - lee_worsdellExplorerWe love ours no issues with wall problems that I can notice. You do need that ac up there pretty warm. They say my pin weight is 2548 less then the model with bedroom up there. And for stairs its 2. We also had 7 people sitting up there at the Daytona 500 2 years ago I was a little iffy on the front jacks. Went out and bought a tripod for the next party lol
- rhagfoExplorer IIINot my cup of tea, I see the door side slide out as another head wacker! I know pool noodles can give protection, but just one more thing. The other ting would be with large number of bodies up in the front more wiggle and hotter.
We have a ceiling fan in the LR, not possible with a FLR. - donn0128Explorer IIDont forget having to ise the stairs every time you want a drink, go potty, or get something to eat!
- For US, we did not like the fact that the one slide would be extended out where we usually sit under the awning.. And we would also get a shorter awning because of that slide..
From the interior point of view, they are very nice.. BUT since the outside storage is less, and the under awning area is less, they are not for us
