Info on Carriage Domani F300

I spent some time looking at the Carriage 5th wheel line called Domani F300 built during 2008 and 2009. There are several for sale via RV Trader. I would appreciate any comments/advice as their quality, durability and any problems they may have before I seriously consider looking at them. Thanks in advance. Happy Trails
  • The exterior aluminum extrusions are painted white which reduces metal to metal contact. Where the tek screws go into the aluminum framing is the problem. Almost all the zinc screws were rusted, some completely in half. Galvanic reaction needs a conductive fluid which is why I sealed every hole with a dollop of silicone to keep moisture out. The screws I put in will remain solid until the trailer is scrapped.
  • Thanks broark01... so then the only answer is aluminum screws?
  • I have looked at Carriage Domani's, Cameos and Carri-lites and would consider any of them if in good shape.

    Now a digression...

So if the stainless steel screws are screwed into aluminum then, according to Fastenal:

"aluminum will corrode severely where they touch the stainless steel
because they are much more anodic than stainless steel. The
aluminum plate will corrode more heavily due to it being more
anodic to stainless steel than brass is."

So the hole in the aluminum extrusions will erode.
  • I have a 2008 Domani I bought used last year. Due to circumstances, the trailer had never been slept in. It is a beautiful trailer with high end components and we like ours. But:

    - The leather on the ulphostry is thin and doesn't wear well.

    - The pin box is not adjustable plus the TorFlex axles are engineered as a structural member of the engineered frame so they can't be flipped. Make sure it will fit your truck. Mine towed nose high and chucking was severe. Ended up with a shorter Trailer Saver hitch. Once dialed in correctly it tows beautifully.

    - The table to couch positioning was not ideal. Had to find a solution for that.

    - The electric black tank valve is prone to sticking.

The Domani's sold for $85k to $115k new and their timing in 08 was unfortunate. That being said, we love ours. The layout works for us and the interior is striking. We are satisfied with our purchase. Feel free to PM me if you want more details that would bore this forum.
