- Tiger02ExplorerDefinitely using that Sisu to get that rig backed in there like that ;).
- LantleyNomadGreat Job. Patience is the key. Cutting that overhang is the 2nd key. In your scenario 8" is a lot to gain. I would also complete the grading. Getting out boards is too cumbersome each time. Pouring concrete would be a one time deal.
Great video it really shows the challenge you face, however as part of the effort it took to make the video I would have put the same effort correcting the grading and eliminating the overhang.
The video does allow you to share your dilemma with others however it does nothing to eliminate the problems.
Concrete or gravel and a circular saw would go a long way towards making backing in a lot easier - fj12ryderExplorer IIILooks like a recipe for disaster to me. You may get it right 10 times in a row, but when it goes wrong...damage to house, fence, utilities, and trailer. No thanks.
- FlatBrokeExplorer IINo way I could even pull forward in the space!
- 1320FastbackExplorerAmazing job!
- rhagfoExplorer IIII would be renting a storage space, in Battle Ground, WA. Rates can't be that bad, would not be worth the frustration and effort to me!
- i wouldn't have to cut the over hang, the rear of my camper would be wearing it.
- Flyin_FinnExplorerI thought about cutting the overhang, making a quick-connect, so the overhang would go back in place once the RV was parked. It is only about 5 feet long. But my wife didn't like the idea.
I would still only gain maybe 8 inches, since the natural gas meter is below there, next to the wall.
Re-grading the ground would eliminate the need of the boards, but it is a lot of work, and so far I haven't found enough motivation to do that since we only camp a few times a year. But at some point I will do the grading, probably pave it the same time.
Regarding getting in the door of the 5er, once I am past the front corner and parallel to the house, the door-side is about a foot feet from the fence. Once the RV axles are past the back corner of the house, I start slowly steering the 5er away from the fence. Once the RV is fully parked, the door is about 4 feet from the fence, so plenty of room to pull out thee steps and use the door. I just can't use the awning. - HelimechExplorerNope, wouldn't even attempt that.
- LadyRVerExplorer IIWow...give lessons????? Great job...my fiver is 31' going forward and 65'backing up.
