Those are about the exact numbers for our 5er, tow it with '08 F250 with camper package. No problems, within ratings and sits level.

No, Not an F250, but a 2500 same basic TV, it is a camper Special, 5er is listed as 9,830# Dry with a 12,360# GVWR, we tow it at 11,000#. yes we spend time on the interstates, but most is on two lane state highways with speeds between 55 to 65, I have no issues with this combination.

This is our combination, loaded for a trip to the coast.



These are the roads we drive on to get to the coast, we meet 53' semis on this road all the time or loaded log trucks. Never a wiggle or push on the truck.



If you are asking you may not be ready to tow it, myself I asked the truck. Before we signed the final papers we dropped on the hitch, the truck still sat a little better than level. I run at 88% of axle capacity. As stated before I am over the sticker GVWR, but well under the axle and tire capacities.

That reply was just pure BS. The police (actually DOT) only cares about axle/tire ratings and paid for license weight. The insurance company doesn't care until after a problem and then on only continuing coverage for the future

To the OP: generically you will be close but should be fine assuming a loaded trailer weight of less than 12k# for a modern diesel powered 3/4 ton truck

The true payload is GVWR minus current scale weight

hmmmm. Our 2008 F250 diesel 4X4 extended cab has a payload capacity of about 1900 lbs. You really need to know the exact payload listing on the door rather than guess on an internet forum.

You are better off to know for certain what Ford's actual towing specs are for your exact truck. Anything other than data is subjective.

Great match up unless your carrying a 80 gallon aux fuel tank and a heavy gen set/etc/etc.

Ford increased the rating for the '05 trucks well above the older trucks ratings.

You will be fine.

I think you need to understand how much 5th wheel your PU can handle. Forget about personal opinions and get the facts. Read the 5th wheel towing specs for your truck. If you don't have them contact the PU manufacturer. The 5th wheel towing specs are not on the sticker inside your door jamb.
