I've made a mistake I think

We have acreage in no where Wyoming so we haul our water in. its been 3 weeks since we visited our 5th wheel and the water stunk, a diaper pale smelled better, My screw up might be two fold; 1. I generally ad a 1/8 cup of Clorox to my two 55 gallon barrels; next I have not changed the Ionized rod in the water heater. I intend to flush with regular tap water and change the rod. Any other suggestions would be appreciated.

    Drain system then fill tank full with fresh water with 1cup clorox and flush system with this, let stand 3/4 hrs and drain the entire system, flush with clean water and drain again, this should get rid of odor. You may want to put some viniger in to tame down the clorox taste.

    Your problem is 2 fold......

    First is availability of water because 2nd problem is you need to do complete system sanitation with a bleach solution.

    1/4 cup to every 15 gallons then flush thru plumbing system (hot and cold) until you smell bleach at each faucet.
    Let sit overnight...then drain water heater, plumbing system via low point drains, fresh water tank drain and then fill/flush everything until clean.

    But then again you have a water availability issue.
