Jayco 31.5 RLTS Eagle

We purchased a 2014 Jayco Eagle 31.5 RLTS in September. This is our 3rd fifth wheel and we thought we were well rehearsed when coming to look and then buying new. Well anyway not to get long winded here is the problem: You stand up at the kitchen sink and wash dishes you have either your head hitting the cabinet above the sink or you have to slouch down and over to wash at the sink. Now we have been in touch with our Dealer and he has been in touch with the District Rep for Jayco. All I can say is I don't think I am getting much sympathy from them yet. Our dealer wrote to the Rep and the dealer asked him "THATS BAD, THAT MAKES FOR AN UNHAPPY CUSTOMER, YOU PEOPLE DONT WANT TO MANY OF THEM DO YOU?" The Reps response was "Absolutely not...but from a warranty standpoint, there is nothing wrong. To be honest, this model is one of our most popular, and this is the first I've heard of this complaint. So, for us to give money for something that isn't broke isn't going to happen." Part of the ending has to do with a solution given by the dealer and the Rep talking about paying for the repair. Anyway, I am looking for anyone that has purchased a Jayco Eagle 31.5 RLTS that has this same problem! As the rep has said this is the first he has heard of this. So I am asking all the 31.5 RLTS Eagle owners to come forward so we can make a case to Jayco about this design flaw. The rep talks about repairing this under warranty and said there is nothing wrong. But the design is terrible and I know every one of you that owns one of these has the same problem and you have either not noticed it yet, ( hard to fathom that) or just think there is nothing you can do about it. So please help.
I will post pics if there seems to be a need
Thanks for listening and your help!!!

  • This is a response to jay5er. Yes maybe your friend does not have a problem. Is it the same year? If to compare fairly, year to year could change. I would ask you that you ask your friend again if it is the same year because that could make a difference one year to another. As for what I want Jayco to do is try to come up with a solution to fix this but I know the deck is stacked against me on this. But my dealer is helping me with this and agrees that it is a problem
    Thanks for listening

  • As to grodyman response; This is not a warranty issue per say. It is though in my opinion a design flaw in a sense that you have to stick your head either against the cupboards or duck under the cupboards to wash. As a safety issue all I can say is this; how long would you last doing the dishes before your lower back becomes sore or more severe problems, then in my mind that is a safety issue. The biggest problem you have not addressed is the fact that Jayco did not have to build it like this! With today's engineering and technologies you think they could have done better. If you like I will send you some pics that might change your mind. I should not have to get a cabinet maker to fix this so I can enjoy my rig since Jayco should not have designed it this way in the first place!
    Thanks for listening!!!

  • This isn't something, in my opinion, that a manufacturer should pay for. A "design flaw" again, in my opinion, is something that leads to damage that would cost money, or a safety issue, that would lead to injury or property damage (smacking your head on a fixed object notwithstanding). You are outside the boundary and scope of warranty service. Rep is right, although you may not like to hear it. Find a cabinet maker and fix it so you can enjoy your rig.

  • I do not have that model but one of my camping friends doe and I just called him. He is 6ft-3 and she is 5ft-7 and they have no experirnced your problem. Unfortunately it sounds like the Rep is right. What are you asking Jayco to do?
