- Jim4929ExplorerI don't tighten the JT's that are on the front since the T faces down. I have a hybrid system with a steadyfast bar on the back. Since the screw faces down I do tighten that up after retraction. So far I have about 10k towed miles on the trailer and the T's have stayed in. This includes our current trip up the Alcan and some pretty rough roads.
- I too have never removed mine , just let them be...
- Joe_in_TexasExplorerDo the JT help with walking movement in the fifth wheel?
Thanks for the experienced comments. - ependydadExplorerAnother vote for snug them up after raising the stabilizers/landing gear. BUT- I did buy 3 or 4 extras when I was ordering parts from the manufacturer to fix one of my mistakes. So now I have spares AND snug them up.
- BB_TXNomadI have mini bungee cords around each of mine with the hooks connected and squeezed together to hold them. When I loosen them I just pull the bungee cord around the T rather than tighten them and have to loosen them again later.
Mine have not rusted in 5 yrs and are very loose when not tightened. I could see them coming loose and falling out. - Gray_FoxExplorerNever had to tighten the up 0nce thier up and never lost any. travel cross country last summer with no problum.
- fj12ryderExplorer IIII'm with KMC6970, I can't see bothering with removing every time. I want to make life easier, not add more work. I just snug mine down after they're up, no biggie. I even have the back two mounted with the T-handles down due to clearance issues and have had no problems.
- tvman44ExplorerNever have and after 5 years still have the originals. :)
- 3_dog_nightsExplorernope
- JRS___BExplorerWhat Dick B said - Never considered removing them. Haven't lost one yet.
That is a pretty long thread so it would have to do quite a few revolutions to fall out.
I did have one with a bad thread which I replaced with a stainless steel bolt. So it's no big thing regardless.
