Keystone Cougar 281bhs

DW and I are looking at going from TT, to a fifth wheel bunkhouse. We really like the floor plan of the Keystone Cougar 281BHS. I have tried searching reviews, or pros and cons. Have found few comments, and none on this trailer. If you have one, and love or hate it, I would be interested to hear about it.
Thanks in advance

  • We had a keystone cougar 278rks 2007 for 5 years. Had some small issues. Plumbing leaks, 1 tire blew, slide not sealing, decals peeling. All fixed either by dealer or me. Overall we liked the trailer and found it of equal quality to others in that price range. As with all Rv try to find a good dealer and the warranty experience will go well.
  • Our first 5th wheel was a Keystone Cougar 281 bunkhouse built in 2001 at the Pendleton, OR. factory. We had issues e.g. went through 5 tires in 2000 miles, had to have the suspension bushings replaced in two years, decals peeling off. That year units did not have shocks and the rigs came with Carlisle tires (aka China Bombs) unbalanced. I did travel too fast over highways with major pot holes. Those conditions destroy rigs that are assembled with light weight materials that are stapled together. We did have many wonderful years experiencing the travels and outdoors…….and luckily I could make my own repairs. In Keystones defense, I think construction techniques and material bonding processes may have improved.
