load weight question

First...i am no where close to the gvwr of the fw.

If i move 300 pounds of weight out of the bed of the tv to behind the rear axle of the fw...have i lowered the payload of the tv and abt what percentage of that 300 is transferred to the hitch pin...thx... bo

  • Picture the fiver as a see-saw. Adding weight behind the axles will reduce the pin weight, not add to it. The amount reduced will depend on the distance the weight is placed behind the fulcrum (axles in this case).

If you are concerned about 300# you need a different TV.

From other posts, it seems he is upgrading to a GMC 3500, so not sure why the concern over 300#s.

I guess he could get a Ram dually, and call it good. ;)

This would be the best way to know for sure.

Not sure what you'd remove from truck, that weighs 300#s, but yes, it would remove payload from the truck. If you put this wt behind the rear axle of FW, there would likely be no wt added to the pin.
