Funny thing is that we all want to blame the tires! There are several other factors that go into it, including our driving, weight(with respect to capacity), roadways, speed and lots more. It is just like buying a new vehicle, you are going to get good ones and bad ones in anything. That being said, there are tires with higher failure rates than others that I really wish the highway board would take an interest in. But for now, we can argue all we want but there are just many more factors other than the tire itself. I bought G614s to replace my Bombs on my 5er because they didn't have the load capacity. I've heard horror stories about them as well. But so far, they've served me well. As stated earlier, I just purchased 4 new Maxxis for my TH. Again, on reputation, but that doesn't mean that I can overload them, drive too fast, pinch them on curbs, run through pot holes, neglect the air pressures and expect them to do what they are intended to do! If everyone thoroughly inspected the tires before each trip and was conscious of how they were driving and weighed their rigs, much of this conversation would be mute. YES, I agree to stay away from the ones made elsewhere, but that is not always a choice we can make quickly if needed. There should be a standard that these follow here, but there is not. So we as a consumer have to make the final choice based on what others on forums like this recommend. Let's just be mindful that other's recommendations and failures be to be examined and be an educated buyer, not just taking a forum posts word for it. There is an ABUNDANCE of great information here, but is like buying a Ford, Chevy or a Dodge, a lot of it boils down to preference, availability and price.
