I have had only one issue and that was my fault. I did not have the lube plate flush to the king pin and squished the plate between my B&W Companion and fhe king pin. Needless to say that one ended up in the garbage and now I make sure it's sits flush.
My previous Companion Had 1-1/8" thick jaws and it was not easy to see when the weight was off the hitch. I bought a 1/8" plate from Hensley, not cheap but worked well. New B&W 3600 has 1" thick jaws. I am using 1/8" on it since I have one but in reality the 1/4" may be fine??????
With my old Husky manual slider i caught the edge of it once when hitching so kept an extra on hand. Never had a problem with it causing a high hitch issue.
