Mice in Fifth Wheel

I have a fifth wheel with an upstairs bedroom. After sleeping in the rv, it sounds as if mice are in the ceiling. Mice droppings have been found under the bed, above the bed in cabinets and in the living room tv area. Any ideas on how they are getting in, how to find and remove them, and how to prevent this from happening in the future?

  • not sure if your from canada? but if mice get into our campers it can be considered an immediate write off due to severe health concerns that come with mice!

Ive tried all the above.Only thing that worked for me all the time are the traps with peanut butter.I leave them in there all winter. They find a trap immediately and dead two seconds later.Dont have a chance to******and pee everywhere. Some yrs are worse then others with mice.As far as where they are getting in,forget it,they will find a way no mater what you do.There will always be a 1/2 inch spce somewhere for them to get in.

We live near several open fields and have mice year round. I have traps in my MH and my vehicles that sit outside, in vinyl car ports.
  • Get a 3' to 4' long rat snake and turn it loose in the trailer. After all the mice are gone, the snake will leave.

Go to a natural food store and get peppermint oil. Put it on some cotton balls and put them in a few places in the living area and in the storage areas: NO MORE MICE. It also makes the camper smell fresh: just don't overdue it just a few drops on each cotton ball.

I put my cotton balls in a plastic cup so they don't stain anything. It works. It might not drive them out (as some have said) but it will keep them out.

Also try "Cab Fresh". It looks like a big tea bag but it has balsam fir which rodents don't like...Smells like a Christmas tree.

  • Try peanut butter on your mouse trap. Put traps near outside walls and where you're finding the dropping.
