I have run the XPS Ribs since 2007 on our triple axle 39' five. Excellent service, no implosions yet. I have my first set of Michelins on my Dodge dually. LTX MS2 17". Be the first and last set. Terrible wear! 70,000 mile treadwear guarantee, might make 45,000 if lucky. Michelin now has changed to Premium LTX but the mileage wear guarantee has been lowered, I wonder why.
I agree with your comments about the tow vehicle tires. I went many years on other brands of tires and finally bought Michelin's for my truck. Four years now and they are wearing more then I expected and the sidewalls are beginning to crack. I won't see the 70000 miles that they are supposed to get, especially since they time out first. I don't believe they are worth the premium price. I will say that they are better the the OEM Continentals. They were really bad!
And for the Michelin supporters, I have maintained all my tires to required standards.
And I have Michelin LTX MS2's on my trailer and after 4 years they are doing a lot better.
