OK, finally decided on the truck for hauling my new 5th wheel, 2005 Silverado 3500 with Duramax, auto tranny, single rears. That is plenty of truck. Those trailer specs fit a 3/4T well, but a 1T even better. Yes, it is enough.Your choice of hitch is a good one.Personally, I would skip the JT strongarms, at least until I had camped a while in the trailer. My trailer, similar to yours, does not wiggle enough to even notice. Add them later if you feel the need.

Is this a long bed truck? That Reese doesn't look like a slider. Model # 30047?

Example. Our truck is rated to tow up to 17,050 pounds. We installed hitch rated to 18k. And guess what we are now looking at trailers with 16 to 16.5k GVWR.

Just noticed you are talking about a 2005 truck, so a 16k hitch covers that vintage trucks capacity. Chris

Get the crusader 295rst with the 16 inch wheel/tire package. If it is the touring edition it will have that.

I did the same handle mod so I could roll my cover over the hitch.

May I suggest one simple modification to the Reese to make it much better in my opinion.
Take the rise out of the handle! This way you never need to worry about the pin box hitting it.

If it is the Reese with the slide gate don't get it. Get one with the jaws that clamp the pin tight without slop. I have the B&W but there lot good ones on the market. That slide gate style seems fool proof but there lot slop in it and clunking.
