Mystery Water Leak's

Hello,

Before I start taking things apart on my trailer this weekend I figured I'd ask the folks here if they have any ideas what might be causing the water leaks I'm seeing.

The TH is a Forest River Stealth FS2612 with an enclosed underbelly, so it’s not clear where the leaks are coming from until I get the enclosure part removed. Took the trailer camping MDW and never did see a leak while camping. After driving home for about an hour we stopped to dump the tanks and I noticed where water was leaking between the enclosure material and the frame (appears to be fresh water). First thought was maybe there was an overflow in the fresh tank it was spilling out, but I didn’t have much water in the tanks and if that were the case it would have done it on the way camping while my tanks were full, which it didn’t. I’m thinking the leak has to be under the trailer at the tanks. I did notice this last year while camping but never got around to looking at it. Probably won’t know much until I get the enclosure off, but thought I’d throw it out there.

The second leak is a real odd one. This one appears to be on the inside of the trailer and only happens when I’m emptying my tanks. I think it’s in the TH because the drip is along the outside edge of the trailer wall where it hangs over the frame. This is also the side my shower, sink, water lines, and water heater are all on. Again it looks to be fresh water. Now what is odd is if I turn on (open up) the kitchen or bathroom sink (without out the pump on) it doesn’t leak. It’s almost like there’s some sort of pressure issue which is making something inside leak. This only happens when I empty the tanks, it doesn’t happen when are camping and using the pump, etc.

If anyone has an idea feel free to put it out there. The second leak really has me scratching my head. Thanks

  • It didn't happen this camping trip (until we stopped to empty the tanks) but it did happen last year where I noticed the water dripping out from between the black material that covers all the tanks. We were dry camping and my water pump turned on when no one had ran any water. I checked under the sink, shower, at the water heater and could not find any signs of water inside... which makes me think it's under the trailer somewhere. Now I didn't have the water pump on while driving yesterday so that doen't explain why there was water under the trailer this time.
  • Just a FWIW, Our new trailer will collect water in the underbelly if we travel in the rain, it seems to get pushed in along the frame. When I looked closer the plastic material is held on with screws and 2 sided tape. Its on my todo list to seal up the front and probaly 8' back on each side and see how that works.
  • First off before you drop the underside enclosure really work the interior, open every cabinet, remove every drawer. You will notice hidden acess panels usually screws will be the first give away. Many of the fittings and connections that can leak can be accessed if you take your time and really get to inspect every inch of the interior. There are always some buried fittings that require a more aggressive approach but first rule out the easy stuff, good luck.....One more thing, water travels, the actual leak could be 10 feet away from the drip you see.
  • One time I thought I had a leak because it didn't look like it could have dripped from rain off the roof. But is was. The water worked its way down the inside of the slide and along the inward sloping siding and did not appear to have come from the roof. I left it alone and it never did it again. Once my water tank fill over-topped and the water didn't hit the ground for 20 feet.

Just may want to make sure it's definitely a leak before tearing everything apart.
