I did the same thing with a 6 gallon unit. I went from a direct spark/ electric to just a direct spark only.
For me. There were three wires coming from the coach.
1) ground
2) power from the switch
3) return wire to turn the light on when ignition fails.
Figure out what's hot when the switch is on, figure the ground, figure the return line.
Easy peasy. I turned he water heater element breaker off and capped and tapped up the element wires.
