Just know that your local RV dealer isn't required to perform warranty work on your unit. It's not like an auto dealership.
While true the only one required is the manufacturer. What happens if the selling dealer closes down? The manufacturer is responsible. What I've found is that the manufacturer doesn't require that a shop sells their brand. Almost any shop can perform warranty work if pre-approved. I've had all warranty work done by an independent shop who doesn't sell RV's. This is especially true with RV accessories and appliances which are warranted by their respective manufacturer rather than the RV manufacturer. This would apply to things like ovens, A/C, Awning, toilet etc.
I'll never buy from a dealer that will only service RV's purchased there. So far that has never been an issue for me.
You're definitely right. But a lot of newer RVers come into this thinking they'll be able to buy across the country and the local deal HAS TO do the work. That isn't the case- the local dealer can say no or can push your appointment out so far that it's a huge hassle.
I have also found what you said- that my manufacturer stepped up and helped me find people that were local to where I was when I had issues.
