nev-r-lube bearings

I carry a spare but my concern is the spindle being ruined by a failure.

At a MINIMUM you should carry at least 2 hub assemblies IF you have nevrlubes.
They are not that difficult to replace-FINDING a hub assembly is.
It is not a question IF they fail but when, and how much damage will result
WHY chance it-carry a spare.
Do a search on the nevrlube axles -be prepared.

The Nev r lube bearings are very specific about the offset of wheels used. If I recall, Glendale/Titanium had multiple failures and attributed it to the wheels.

Warranty was 5 years or 100K miles on my 7K axles with disc brakes. Not sure mileage means anything because who would know.

Ther is no maintenance or service that can be done to Newer lube axles, can only check to make sure they are within specifications, I cannot remember the warenty on this bearing but pretty sure it wasn’t a million miles, and ther are different sizes with different specification.

I don't get this. I can change out my hub with new bearing and be on my way before Roadside Assistance even shows up. Helps to be prepared.

They came with my heavy trailer in 2004 and are still in there doing the jub well. Seems to me that if they were going to fail it would have happened long ago when they were newer. I don't worry about it. I have excellent roadside assistance and a good credit card! :W:B

The problem, as pointed out by a horse trailer dealer, is if they fail while traveling you a really screwed. That dealer claims to have had a few failures but they are not common place. I think I will stick to my ol' fashion bearings. And BTY forget the easy lube and pack them by hand.

If you are in Indiana and near Elkhart there is surely someplace that can do it for you.

We had the Dexter Nev-R-Lube's on ours and they served us well for 6 seasons and about 45K miles. I never had a problem with the hubs themselves but did have a problem with tire wear, which may have been an alignment issue. We hit some pretty rough roads in those 45K miles. Also, had a problem with the leaf springs coming out of alignment, they would spread apart and each season I would have to take a hammer and bang them back in place.

I did have some concerns about what would happen if we did have a problem. Some have said they carry an extra assembly but I never did. Last fall we had the whole axle system replaced with MorRyde IS and Kodiak hubs with discs, which uses readily available parts. They will have to be serviced every couple of years but at least I'll know what kind of shape they are in. So far I'm happy with the change.
