will be travailing the US. But also need a new Truck, looking for Input and Recommendation.
You're likely to have a pin weight at GVW of somewhere between 3,300 and 4,100 lbs (20-25%). You need a truck that can carry that =and= the hitch, passengers, fuel and other "stuff" in the truck. Might be out of 1 ton territory altogether unless you travel exceptionally light.
Lyle - transamz9ExplorerI would take it anywhere I wanted safely with my 3500 SRW but I don't have a lot of stuff I carry. On the website it shows a 16% pin weight dry. I know I don't carry 2500 # of stuff in my 5er now. Even if I did load to max and kept the pin weight at 16% we are only talking 2640#.
OP it really depends on a lot of things that only you can answer. How much stuff you carry, how you load, how you tow, are you comfortable towing. If you want something that is going to tow it and handle like it's not towing get a HDT. If you are fine towing heavy then a SRW 3500 will do it. If you are anywhere in between then any truck in between the ones I listed will do. - Luke_PorterExplorerThe current crop of one tons have capacities of 22,000# of better. And they fit in the garage.

- TucsonJimExplorer IIMany people do not take into account all of the variables that come into play while selecting a truck. Sure, the truck might have adequate towing capability for the 16.5K. But if I was the one looking for a truck, I'd be equally concerned with the payload of the truck. Before purchasing, you need to have a pretty good understanding of what the pin weight of the loaded Redwood will be along with an understanding of all the cargo and passengers in the truck will weigh. I would not purchase a truck that did not have adequate payload for these combined weights.
- avvidclif1ExplorerProbably because Redwoods website shows the GVWR of 16,500 lbs.
That's definitely in 1t dually territory, whatever brand you like. Watch the options as fully loaded ones with all the extras subtract from the carrying capacity. - rhagfoExplorer IIIRam 3500 DRW Cummins/Asin
