During the PDI for my new 5th wheel, I explained to the dealer that I wouldn't be using the washer and dryer hookups that are located in the bedroom closet. He wasn't clear when asked about what to do when Winterizing and De-Winterizing those connections. He said just use a bucket or something when De-winterizing this Spring and after that, not to worry about the washer/dryer connections and lines again. I specifically asked about running Anti-freeze through the lines like you do for the rest of the camper when winterizing in the fall and he said it wasn't necessary. That just doesn't seem right to me. The Manufacturer put anti-freeze in those lines before shipping the camper to the dealer so shouldn't those connections be treated as any other faucet would be going forward? What would be the best method to use so there's not water/anti-Freeze all over my closet area? I was thinking about attaching a hose to both valves and have them drain into a sink. Is there another method used that might be a better solution or was my dealer correct when he said after De-Winterizing, not to worry about those connections again?

I guess I don’t really have an answer for you but my 5vr has washer/dryer hookups that we have also never used We have had this one since 2011 and live in ND and I have never done anything to winterize the lines other than normal winterization. All is fine with those lines after many cold winters. Hope this helped.

They are water lines, they contain water, water can freeze. The dealer is clueless. If you are sure that the lines will not be used again, disconnect them so that they won't be holding stagnant water forevermore.

You need to clear the lines of water. A garden hose connected to each one would help.

On our MH those lines drain nicely when the low point drain is open. Then I use the blow out method without antifreeze. I open all valves one by one including those two when the system is being blown out.

I winterize the washer hot/cold water connections thru access panel in bedroom closet using short washer hose and bucket. I run RV antifreeze from outside hose inlet utilizing water pump. Been doing this for 10 plus years...works for us. PS, this is done after hot water tank is in bypass.

Thanks for everyone's replies. I ended up using a bucket. I didn't have two lengths of hose long enough to go out thew window or to the toilet and I didn't want to go buy one just for this. It worked fine. In the fall I'll do the same thing when winterizing.

We too have the W/D hook-ups in hallway closet but no W/D. We just simply attach a short length of cut off garden hose to each spigot, open each up and let either the anti-freeze or water run into a bucket. Do for both and dump into the toilet. No big deal. Stinks yes doing it, but only takes a couple minutes to do.

I have thought about disconnecting ours in the dungeon. I put caps on the outlets so if the valves get bumped I do not fill "my" closet with water. Chris

This is exactly what I did after several times of winterizing the connections in the closet. Got caps and removed the lines from the tees under the sink and capped them off. Had to take out a panel under the sink, but easy job. Someday we may get a washer and if we do they will be easy to hook back up.

Why would you lessen possible resale by cutting them off? That's just silly.

After that, I would cut them off somehow. One less place to leak and one less thing to winterize.

I knew the dealer wasn't telling me the right thing. Why de-winterize and then not winterize the following fall. It made no sense to me. I think I'll do what tropical_ron does but instead of using a bucket, I'll just run the hoses out the bedroom window and let the anti-freeze go in the lawn. It's biodegradable and harmless to grass.

If you plan to never use them and there is easy access to where they are tapped into the rest of the water system, I would either cap them off or put in a shutoff valve in each line to eliminate possible stagnant water in them. Mine are connected to the water lines under the bathroom vanity and would be relatively easy to do either. But we have a washer and use them.

I have a new AF with them lines/.I forgot to do it but i asked someone and also they said when you winterize and open the lower valves there so high water drains from them. I did go back out and do it again with the pink stuff. Just make sure you have a bucket handy.

We had the water lines in our Big Sky several years ago. I never remembered to drain them because we never used them. We never had any leaks, or broken lines. Maybe because we never used them they never got any water in them.
