Thank you everyone who responded. We are full time RVers and have decided to get a washer/dryer. Finding them is a PITA
We love our Splendid *vented* combo unit. The reason we like the combo is mostly for the overnight load of laundry. It's nice to throw something in at bedtime and wake up to clean and dry clothes in the morning. Heck, with the laundry now being in the kid's room, it's even showing up folded!
Info on washer/dryers for campers:
http://learntorv.com/clothing-washer-dryer/ - dparkExplorerWe bought a Galaxy from Sams's Club (online) and added the three year warranty. This was a great purchase for our last trip and it is priceless to not have to go to a laundromat and build in time out of your vacation. We have a Coachman Chaparelle as well and it fit in the front perfectly. If yours hooks up there, be prepared to drill through the bottom of the cabinet and also through the bottom floor into the pin box opening.

CANDY - catkinsExplorer IIWe decided we prefer to do several large loads in a laundromat weekly vs purchasing a combo unit and always hauling the weight around. Small loads, loss of storage and weight to haul were the deciders for us. Friends with a combo unit were not happy with the time required and the small capacity. Some love them and do small loads daily. A matter of choice.................
- LexxExplorerWe're in the middle of a 70 day summer trip with our 3 kids. We wished we had an on-board washer/dryer!!!
Sure you can use the machines at the rv park or in town. But it's a total waste of time. You have to be diligent about getting your wash out or some jerk will pull them out and throw em on the top of a machine. We end up with missing socks.
Many of the laundromats are less than clean or have questionable people milling about. Still others are just plain expensive. We've paid as much as $5 a load!
I argued this point with my wife before we ended up with our current fiver. I wanted the Grand Design Momentum with the space in the garage for a washer and dryer. She kept insisting that it'd be no big deal to do laundry at an outside laundromat. Now she ******* and moans about how much of a PITA it is. I just turn a deaf ear to that and remind her this was her idea. - 2gypsies1Explorer III

Those who tout the laundry mat over built in (presuming you're full time or at least very long/seasonal trips) aren't figuring in your time.
3 hours at the laundry mat to do "all" your clothes or several loads through the RV washer which take like 5 min to change out and don't need to be babysat.
Not 3 hr..... we did 2-3 weeks worth in 1.5 hr. That was also our time to grocery shop or run errands. We used small-town laundries and never found them to be dirty. Clothes are washed in water with a few rinses. Why would they be dirty? You said it takes 5 min to change out & don't need to babysit. Seems to me that you need to be there to change out your 3 t-shirts in order to put in a sheet. :) - Grit_dogNavigatorThose who tout the laundry mat over built in (presuming you're full time or at least very long/seasonal trips) aren't figuring in your time.

Idk how the all in 1 RV units work, but presume they get all the water out of the machine since it dries in the same drum. I'd think this is far preferable to conventional w/d unless you're ALWAYS using them. Otherwise the washer will start growing and will need a odor/disinfection run or 2 every time before you use it so yer clean clothes don't smell like they need to go back in the washer! - memtbExplorerWe have GE Spacesaver stackable washer and dryer....14 years old. The newer ones may or may not be of similar quality. You can’t hear ( must listen very closely) or feel them when they are running. Load capacity is almost equal to our home machines....and can be done in less than 3 hours.
Price was mentioned, “avoiding a laundromat ......priceless”! - buckyExplorer IIMeasure, measure, and then measure again for stackables. Thank goodness we did before buying. We wanted an apartment type stacked combo but found the compartment 2" too short. Be aware if both units are made together if one fails you get to buy both again.
On a recent 26 day trip we only had to do laundry once as we packed accordingly. - Sea_SixExplorerI have a Splendide 2100XC vented washer/dryer combo. It came with the used Infinity fifth wheel I bought recently.
I probably wouldn't have bought one but now that I've had it for a short time I don't think I will be without one from here on. The convenience is the deciding issue.
