And the steps aren't as slick when they are wet.
Unless they get snowed on. Then they are real bad. (Some of us can't run away for the winter yet.) - N-TroubleExplorer

just looked on Amazon, looks like they are about 28.00. sounds expensive.
I could buy a whole roll of indoor-outdoor from home depot
Yes, you could. But then you would have to cut it to size, buy the grommets, and the springs. The ones we have also have a rubber backer on them. They have held up to a year and a half of many times a day use, with barely any wear.
Sometimes, it's better to just bite the bullett and purchase something outright, instead of going through the hassle to save a couple bucks. JMO
Exactly... Makes $28 seem cheap - SabreCanuckExplorerFunny you should mention the dog. we HAD TO buy them for our new 5th because the spoiled little 85 lb lab wouldn't come up the scary stairs until we put the carpet on. LOL
Can't blame him, to your point he was slipping on the bare steps and we were concerned he would get a leg caught in between the steps.

1. Helps keep the dirt out of your RV.
2. Prevents you from slipping on the metal grate if its wet.
3. Definitely get them if you have dogs to keep them from snagging a nail and breaking a toe.
And from slipping off the step when wet.
I do suggest you get the prepackage ones designed for RV's.
They usually come in 2 sizes so measure your steps. All CG stores carry them.
The pre cut grommets and springs supplied make for a perfect fit.
They last forever when they fit properly.

- darbyjudyExplorerThe only problem with the outside steps covered with carpet is that they hold moisture and then the steps rusted. I had to repaint mine a couple of times. I don't use them anymore.
- SanMarMorExplorerMake sure you get the right ones, depending on if your steps are curved or straight.
They work great for us, keeping the dirt out. - DutchmenSportExplorerI made my own. Got the indoor-outdoor carpet from Lowe's, cut mine to size, wrapped on top and bottom of each step, and used a bit of wire to catch the ends under the step to tie the two ends together. No grommets at all. They never come off, have not torn or ripped, or shredded. Easy, cheap (especially since I had the carpet left over from scrap from another project), and works well.
No need for the springs or the grommets.
And yes! They do keep a lot of dirt from entering the camper!
(I think right now, I have only 1 step of 3 with the carpet cover on my current camper. This seems to work quite well. When we got our last camper 3 years ago, this was all the scrap I had left). But, it's been just fine! - dwayneb236ExplorerWe got them for ours. Just thinking about the steps with the holes in them and your dog catching a nail and ripping it off makes it all worth while. I don't know that it can or has happened, but I like the thought of it not having a chance to happen. And they are comfy on the bare feet. We never wear shoes inside.
- YES . . It really helps keep the STUFF on the bottom of your shoes out of the RV ! ! !
