my 15 2500 weight no trailer rear axle 3440 axle rating 6500 still have 3100 to use with trailer rear 5100
My older '03 2500 Dodge/Cummins has a 6000 RAWR and weighs 2820 on the rear axle which leave my truck with around 3180 lb for a payload.
When hooked up with my 11200 lb 5th wheel trailer = around 5200-5400 on the rear axle = 600-800 lbs under max.
Some folks buy a 2500 Ram for pulling a RV trailer..... and some want to use the trucks GVWR payload based on the tire placard. Older trucks (prior to early/mid '00s) as my truck don't have a tire placard payload number.
If we bought the same 2500 for commercial service for pulling heavy trailers we look at the trucks RAWR numbers which most late model'14-'16 4x4 Rams may be 6500 RAWR. Trailers add little to no weight on a trucks front axle.
