It removed the white mark and looked pretty good as is, but I oiled or waxed the entire table to even it out. Looks just fine.

Refinishing our butcherblock kitchen table is on the 'to do' list after 'somebody' spilled acetone, or maybe something similar on it. Stripped the polyurethane right off it.

Must be at east 30 years of daily use on that table & still was looking OK. Must have put 4-5 coats on it.

I guess it could be 'patched' but that would result in coating of vastly different ages on it. Somehow I don't think that will come out well so instead of patching I am going with the complete refinish route.

Another thing to try is rub the ring with a walnut meat, not the shell. I did this to a ring on out table,

Yea, i have done my kitchen table a few times like that. Its a bit of work. And if you dont want to mess with it again, a coat of butchers wax at the end will add a lot of waterproofing to it. I do my home table once a year with the wax now. Kids make a mess.

Providing it’s a wood table, yes you can refinish it like that. I would probably use 100 to start, and plan on doing at least 3 coats with 220 between coats.

Did you try mayonnaise on the mark?
