Pullrite or Curt for OEM Hitch

Recently bought a 2015 F350. It has the Ford puck system installed. I am looking for a hitch and trying to decide between the Pullrite #1400 OE Series or the Curt (Q24 with Ford legs). Both are Made in the USA. I can by a Q24 hitch head only, then the leg kit and come out considerably cheaper, however, cheaper is not always better. B&W is not an option, as it is only rated for 20k. The Cyclones we are looking are between 18k and 20k loaded, I do not want to be at the limits of the hitch and I can only imagine that FW will be getting heavier as TV are able to pull more, meaning, I would like room for future expansion.

Thanks,
Cale

  • Suggesting someone exceed manufacturer's ratings based on their personal opinion and what they "look like side by side" is extremely poor advice.

Nope, not even close... Notice my signature....I have the 14k GVWR package (with the 4.3 gear). Also, 6k CCC and 26,900 trailering.

I take the weights pretty serious, especially when the family is on board. I am pretty sure I would not be able to live with myself if an accident happened and I was overweight.

If I were you I would look at the Curt and PullRite next to the B&W. B&W is very conservative in their ratings. I am over a bit with my 18K B&W and would have it over any other hitch.

So you would rather have your B&W with a lower rating than a Pullrite. Can you tell me why? What makes your B&W better than a Pullrite that would not be overrated in this situation? I am not looking to be argumentative just wondering what makes the Pullrite inferior.

  • Don't know that I am much help, but I had a Pullrite Super 5th in my last truck and really liked it. Would have bought another for my new truck had they had one available at the time to fit my 2012 Ford factory hitch prep.
